Latest Pile Testing Crosshole Sonic Logging
Test Method:
The test requires at least two access tubes or pipes, which are installed in the concrete before it sets. Once the concrete has hardened, a sonic logging device is lowered into one of the access tubes and a transmitter sends a high-frequency sound wave through the concrete to the receiver in the other access tube. The receiver then measures the time it takes for the sound wave to travel between the two access tubes, as well as the amplitude and frequency of the wave. This process is repeated for different pairs of access tubes to create a profile of the concrete's integrity along the length of the foundation element.
Cross sonic logging is a widely used testing method in the construction industry and is considered to be a reliable and accurate means of assessing deep foundation elements
