Geophysical Survey Euipment TEM Transient Electromagnetic Method System For Mineral Exploration
What is TEM?
Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) is a geophysical technology that responds most strongly to conductive materials and is used to obtain vertical resistivity soundings.
This method is non-destructive and leaves no markings in the survey region after measurements are complete since it uses a sequence of wire loops to transmit and receive signals on the ground.
Why is a SYSTEM necessary?
The TEM method can find minerals and groundwater and is helpful for other tasks, including environmental surveys and geological mapping.
New, salty in nature, and even contaminated water may all be distinguished with the WalkTEM device from ABEM thanks to its extreme sensitivity to conductive materials. This considerably reduces the possibility of, say, drilling wells too deep or in the incorrect location and coming across saline water. Furthermore, it is possible to start quantifying the targets being mapped by gathering several soundings throughout a grid or along a profile.
How is it operational?
TEM utilizes induction instead of galvanic contact; it is an inductive approach and does not require direct electrical contact with the ground. The rate at which the magnetic field associated with a transient current propagating through the earth is measured by the receiver antenna(s) after the current is induced by a transmitter loop on the ground.
Depending on the necessary depth of penetration, different sizes of transmitter loops and receiver coils are available. Larger transmitter and receiver loops are more effective in recording deeper reactions, whereas smaller loops are better suited for shallow replies.
A resistivity model of the studied site can be obtained by directly inverseing the raw data on the device (or elsewhere).
