Geoelectric electrical topography is the branch of Geophysics that deals with the behavior of rocks and sediments in relation to electric current. That is, they are those that study the response of the terrain when direct electric currents (DC) propagate through them. The physical parameter that is controlled is resistivity and the final interpretation is made based on the geological characteristics of the area in which geoelectric prospecting methods are applied:

 

ELECTRICAL TOMOGRAPHY Equipment is a direct current method system whose purpose is to determine the variation of the electrical resistivity of the subsoil as a function of depth and along a profile, that is, in 2 dimensions (2-D).

 

In the Dipole-Dipole the four electrodes move in relation to a center but at the same time they also move laterally whose objective is to see variations in resistivity in 2-D (X and Z).

 

Arrangements: Dipole-Dipole, Pole-Dipole, Pole-Pole, Wenner, Wenner-Schlumberger, Edge Gradient, Strong Gradient, among others.

 

Widely Applications: Environmental engineering, prospecting for mineral resources, geotechnics, geological characterization, civil protection for the determination of fractures, geological faults, detection of cavities and facies changes and archaeology.
