Basic concepts and working principles
Definition
The logging electric winch is mainly used to control the lifting and lowering of the logging cable during the oil logging process. The motor drives the drum to rotate, thereby realizing the cable retraction and release. It can accurately send the downhole logging instrument to the target depth and safely retract the instrument after the measurement is completed.
Working Principle
The core components are the motor and the drum. The motor provides power, which is transmitted to the drum through transmission devices such as reducers. When the motor rotates forward, the drum rotates clockwise and starts to lower the cable; when the motor rotates reversely, the drum rotates counterclockwise to retract the cable. During the rotation of the drum, the cable can be raised and lowered at a uniform speed by precisely controlling the motor, and the cable lowering and retrieving speed can be accurately controlled according to the requirements of the logging depth.
Main functions and uses
Cable retracting function
The most basic function is to be able to smoothly lower the logging cable to the specified depth in the well according to the requirements of the logging construction. When retracting the cable, the cable can be retracted quickly and safely, and the cable can be guaranteed not to be damaged during the retracting process. For example, when performing conventional resistivity logging or acoustic logging, it is necessary to lower the downhole instrument with the corresponding sensor through the cable to hundreds or even thousands of meters underground. The logging electric winch can complete this task well.
Depth control function
The depth position of the logging instrument in the well can be accurately controlled. In oil exploration, accurate depth measurement is very important for determining the formation structure and reservoir location. By combining with the logging data acquisition system, when the winch lowers the instrument to the target depth, the data acquisition system can start recording the corresponding formation parameters, such as formation resistivity, porosity and other data.
Load adaptation function
It can adapt to different weights of downhole instruments and cable combinations. Because the types and quantities of downhole instruments are different in different logging tasks, the load of the entire logging system varies greatly. The logging electric winch can adjust the output power of the motor according to the actual load conditions to ensure safe and stable operation.
Technical indicators and parameters
Lifting capacity
It is generally measured by rated load. For example, some small logging electric winches may have a rated load of 1-2 tons, while large winches for deep well logging can have a rated load of 5-10 tons or even higher. Lifting capacity determines the maximum weight that the winch can lower and recover, including the weight of the cable and the weight of the downhole instrument.
Cable speed range
The speed range is usually an important parameter. For example, the speed range can range from 0-3000 meters/hour. Different logging operations may require different cable lifting and lowering speeds. A higher speed can be used when initially lowering the instrument, while a lower speed is required when approaching the target layer or making fine measurements.
Depth measurement accuracy
The depth measurement accuracy can generally reach ±0.1%-±0.5% of the depth reading. High-precision depth measurement is essential for accurately obtaining formation information, especially in the exploration of thin oil layers or complex formation structures.
Motor power
The motor power depends on the load and speed requirements of the winch. Common motor powers range from a few kilowatts to tens of kilowatts. The power directly affects the lifting capacity and working efficiency of the winch.
